Financial Exposure

What does your neobank actually know about you?

Financial Exposure
DESCRIPTION#0.1

Revolut, Chime, Cash App, Venmo, N26, Monzo, they're marketed as modern and user-friendly, but underneath the clean UI, they're building a complete portrait of your financial life. Every transaction, every merchant, every paycheck timing, every late-night purchase. This data gets analyzed, packaged, and often sold. It influences your insurance rates, your loan approvals, your job prospects, and what ads follow you around the internet. Most people have no idea what they've already given away. This RTG asks you to investigate. Pick a neobank or financial app you actually use. Dig into their privacy policy, their data practices, their third-party sharing. Document what they collect, who they share it with, and what that data can reveal about you. Then make the case for why financial privacy is or is not important.

REQUIREMENTS#0.2
  • Choose a neobank or financial app you use (Revolut, Cash App, Venmo, Chime, N26, Monzo, PayPal, etc.)
  • Research and document: What data do they collect? Who do they share it with? What does their privacy policy actually say?
  • Create content (article, thread, video, visual breakdown) exposing what you found
  • Connect your findings to why encrypted, self-custodial finance changes the equation
  • Tag @Stealf_finance and @Arcium
  • Upload a link to your piece of content to the RTG site
JUDGING CRITERIA#0.3
  • Research QualityDid you actually dig into the privacy policy and data practices, or just skim the surface?
  • SpecificityConcrete examples beat vague claims, what exactly is being collected and shared?
  • InsightDid you surface something that would surprise people, or just confirm what everyone already assumes?
  • ArgumentDoes this make someone reconsider the neobank sitting on their phone?
